Good Box for ~$150 July 10, 2010 cocre (Cayce, SC United States) It's big and super ugly, but for the money you can't do much better soundwise. The woofer is nothing but muddy on it's max setting, and the bass is totally absent when off. Some singing voices are distorted even at moderate volume levels. Having said that, the thing still sounds pretty good for what it is, just understand that it is a boombox and not a high fidelity audio system.
I do not have a clue why they would put a cassette player in the thing. They need to remove it and install a USB connection for reading MP3s directly off a thumb drive. It does do MP3s from a CD and also via the line input, but a USB input would be so much the better.
Not Very Loud June 30, 2010 Zyde (Travel between Seattle & NC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I read that people's rooms, walls, lives, etc. are crumbling from the sound ouput, but that was not my experience at all. The sound is average and the boombox's features are extremely average.
5 stars in my opinion. June 26, 2010 Midnight Toker (Coventry, RI) What is it that lacks in most boomboxes? A DEDICATED SUBWOOFER. This HAS that and it sounds great. It's a portable boombox and it's a very good one. I don't know what others are expecting. DUH, of course it's not a top of the line home stereo system, but what it IS is an excellent sounding portable boom box with as much bass as you want to pull out of it. Something that lacks in other boom boxes for nearly the same cash. Sure, if you want to whine you could complain about the small LCD screen. Big deal. I wanted sound and some thump and this delivered. Well worth the price in my opinion.
Arrived defective May 29, 2010 R. Desimone I purchased this listed as "used" from Warehouse Deals, Inc . Their description read "Open box unit. Cosmetic blemishes on main unit. " There were actually no blemishes on boombox that I saw. The box arrived partially opened with several different types of tape on it. The right channel/speaker did not work. Maybe it was damaged in shipping. Maybe it was sent out after being returned never being tested. The amount of tape on box suggests to me that it was sold and returned more than once. Buy one from them and maybe you will get the same one. The return process has also been a problem. They arranged for UPS to pick it up but never showed when they said they would after I waited home all day. This was not the sellers fault but is just part of the frustration of getting a defective unit from and untrustworthy seller.
The actuall item sounds great (on the left) so I did order another one new from Ritz Camera.
This is the bomb! May 27, 2010 L. BLOUIN (Florida, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a power-packed boombox! It rocks out better than the JVC mini stereo I got (which has 70 watts of power). Although I think the red is a bit undesirable (to me), I can only give this thing a 5-star rating. It works great and is really awesome! A++++
